ABOUT

History

Brookfield Township was established in 1841. The earliest settlers, Peter Moe, John Boody and Jesse Hart arrived in 1837. Moe and Boody settled in the NE sections 1 and 2 and called the area Moeville. Hart settled in the NW section 7 then called

Hart's Corners.

In 1841, Peter Williams and Enos Dutton both settled to the south in section 20/21 where Dutton built the only sawmill in the township along the banks of the Battle Creek referred to as Duttonville and now known as Brookfield.
